Consultant Neurologist Providing Treatment for Debilitating Headache Pain
Dr Mark Weatherall is Consultant Neurologist and former Clinical Lead for Neurology at the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, a previous Chair of the British Association for the Study of Headache, a former Trustee of The Migraine Trust, and a member of the medical advisory board of Trigeminal Neuralgia and Facial Pain UK. He was a highly regarded historian of medicine before studying clinical medicine at Cambridge. Junior medical jobs followed in Cambridge, London and Oxford, before he completed his specialist training in neurology in the North-West of England. He spent twelve months as a clinical research fellow with Professor Peter Goadsby and Dr Holger Kaube of the Headache Group at the Institute of Neurology in London. He is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of London and Edinburgh.
He has for more than 25 years run busy general neurology clinics in the NHS, covering the whole field of neurology, including headache, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and numerous other neurological disorders.
His main interests are the diagnosis and management of chronic headache disorders, facial pain, and visual snow, and the understanding of the historical and social background of headache more generally. He has made presentations on these subjects at recent meetings of the International Headache Society, the Migraine Trust International Symposium, the European Academy of Neurology, and the Association of British Neurologists. He actively promotes the importance of headache disorders through social media such as BlueSky, X, formerly known as Twitter and more traditional media platforms.
He also has a busy general neurology NHS practice in Buckinghamshire, covering the whole field of neurology, including epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and numerous other neurological disorders.
He sees private patients with all neurological conditions at The Medical Chambers Kensington in South Kensington, The Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden, The Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe, and the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital in Aylesbury. He is also consultant neurologist to the Curaleaf Clinic, a CQC-registered private clinic assessing patients for the use of medicinal cannabis, and providing prescriptions to appropriate patients.
